About us

Our Journey and Commitment

Our journey began with Laurel Collins, registered nurse and CEO of Laurel’s Lake Residence.

Laurel’s vision is to provide a place where seniors can live with dignity, comfort, and the highest standard of care. Over the years, our story has been shaped by the relationships we’ve built, the lives we’ve touched, and the community we’ve nurtured.

Laurel set out to provide an elevated experience that provided a high level of care without the institutional feel found in most seniors’ care facilities.

Our story is defined by the dedication of our team, the trust of our residents and their families, and the joy of creating a home that fosters comfort, security, and happiness. This is our story, and we invite you to become a part of it.

Samantha Bennett

Client Care Manager

Samantha Bennett joined Laurel’s Lake Residence in 2018 as Client Care Manager. With the many roles Samantha does with Laurel’s Lake Residence, by far her favourite is making our Clients laugh, smile and keep them safe!

Samantha graduated from her C.C.A. course in 2011 and began working in private and long-term care programs for many years until taking a short break to raise her two sons. Taking great pride in her job, Samantha is a kind-hearted and compassionate young lady and these qualities are exemplified daily in her work with our Clients. Her patience and understanding is something our Clients deeply appreciate and strengthens the relationships she has with them.

Some of Samantha’s hobbies are spending time in her greenhouse, tending to her gardens along with keeping up the daily chores needed to keep her family hobby farm running. Besides the hobby farm, the loves in Samantha’s life are her wonderful partner, Ryan of 16 years and her two beautiful children: Chad and Evan.

Susan Abboud

Administrative Assistant

Susan Abboud joined Laurel’s Lake Residence in 2021 as Administrative Assistant. Graduating from Mount St. Vincent in 1989, Susan has been a business owner with her husband since 1995, started her own childcare business in 2008, along with raising her now two adult daughters. Susan’s interest in Health and Wellness led her to get her private training certification in 2019 and also use her business knowledge to manage a local gym where she met Laurel Collins.

During the Covid-19 pandemic the gym unfortunately closed and Laurel asked Susan about some fitness sessions for her residents and subsequently offered her a position as Administrative Assistant.
Susan enjoys working with people of all ages and enjoys helping others be the best versions of themselves. She has been working on her life coaching certification as well as her Functional Aging Certification which will assist her in training those 70 years and older and help them age actively. Having to help out aging family members has also helped her to appreciate the importance of having arrangements in place for our loved ones that may need extra care.
Susan enjoys personal training her clients, taking courses that enrich herself and others, powerlifting, travelling, sketching and painting in her free time.
